My fascination for the Arctic animals is unlimited. Year after year they manage to not only survive the extreme and brutal winter but also to bring new life to the planet. This curious Arctic fox is watching me from behind an iceberg in the Thule district in Greenland. - #arcticfox #greenland #bbcearth #ilcp_photographers #natgeo #bbcwildlifemagazine
Spending over two years in the Danish special military unit - the Sirius Dogsled Patrol and driving more than 10.000 kilometers by dogsled in the world's biggest national park, Northeast Greenland has been one of the most important and biggest experiences in my life. In the new KLM podcast I am telling the story about how this was the start of my career as a full-time nature and wildlife photographer and what it actually took of me to get where I am today. I have put a link to the podcast in my bio. https://podcast.klm.com/en #episode-12 #klm #dogsledding #sirius @klm @ilcp_photographers @bbcearth #liveforthemoment
Surrounded by silence and total whiteout I enjoy watching the little Arctic hare that is so well camouflaged in the deep, white snow. I wonder what he is thinking about, maybe the next meal of Arctic willow or perhaps the warm spring days in mid May - these warm days seems so far away right now in the middle of the Arctic winter. #iloveanimals #ilcp_photographers #eastgreenland #ilovegreenland #bbcearth #bbcnature #arctichare #wildlife_seekers #earthcapture #whiteout #simple #clean #purewhite #mortenhilmer #nordicnature #ourplanetdaily
Looking at the little Arctic fox getting ready to sleep on an iceberg just in front of me without any fear was one of these rare moments where I just had to lower my camera to better enjoy the moment. This moment changed my wildlife photography and I'm telling the story behind this photo in the latest video at YouTube.com/mortenhilmer Link is in my BIO. #greenland #arcticfox #mortenhilmer #wildlifephotography #nature_whisperers #pets_of_instagram #wildlifeplanet #nationalgeographic #liveforthestory #liveforthemoment #changedmylife #iloveanimals #ourplanetdaily #earthofficial #ilcp_photographers #bbcearth #bbcnature
It's early August in Denmark and while the days are warm and dry the early mornings are different. The air is fresh and cold and the grass and leaves are covered in a thin layer of the morning dew. Small drops of dew are gathering in the spiders web - a beautiful but fleeting view. Soon the sun will rise and warm up the air. The tiny drops will evaporate and the beautiful web will become invisible - but only until the huge yellow fireball seeks shelter below the horizon, and nature once again demonstrates the art of painting with water. - Follow me: YouTube.com/mortenhilmer Link in my bio. - #dansknatur #sunrise #natureartwork #artnature #conservationist #ilcp #naturelovers #wildlifephotographic #liveforthestory #liveforthemoment #natgeo #nationalgeographic #mortenhilmer #naturephotos #wildlifephotography #nature_whisperers
Everything is quiet in the forest and only the sound of the woodpecker far awar and the melancholy rhythm from the blackbird breaks the total silence. I try to walk as slow as possible to avoid any cracking branches but still I make too much noise. The barking sound of a roedeer gives me a fright and I freeze. It can't see me so it walks back and forth to better understand what is making the noise.. I only get a few photos before it dissappears between the trees. Whatch my video from this 3 day bushcraft trip whit my friend @don_von_gun. Link to the video is in my BIO
What a great experience to spend 3 days in the forest with very good company. I have already learned a lot from @don_von_gun and I am looking forward to future trips together. New video from this trip is online on my channel. LINK IS IN MY BIO
Watching nature's small miracles makes me feel humble and grateful and it is incredible hard to describe the feeling I got when the mother gently licked the ear of her baby just in front of me. I have just published my new 30 minutes video about one of my best days in nature for a very long time. 🌿🎥 Link to the video is in my BIO. 🎥🌿
Only a few meters away from the roe she had her little baby hidden in the tall grass. What a beauty and what an unforgettable moment to look into the eyes of this little deer.
Even though she is not very well camouflaged in all the greens I didn't notice her at first. She moved with silent, elegant movements as she kept an eye on me. She had something to hide - a little secret..
Watching the Eurasien curiew searching for worms in the meadow while the heavy rain just poured down was a great experience - especially because this moment is basically captured in mu backyard. Once again a reminder to myself that it's not always necessary to travel to the end of the world to get great experiences and good photos - the beautiful moments in nature is often just outside the door.. @ilcp_photographers @BBCEarth #naturemakesmehappy #seeyououtthere
The two woodpecker parents were busy feeding the 3 chicks who were already fully colored. They had lost their grey and brown feathers and now looked like small versions of the adult woodpeckers. This photo is about a week old and when I went back yesterday to have a look they had already left the nest. Video from this day is online - LINK IN BIO
Surrounded by the smell of newly bloomed forest and the sound of hundreds of birds it is hard not to feel privileged. And when at the same time witnessing the next generation of small woodpeckers getting fed it is hard to wish for anything more. Just uploaded the behind the camera version of the video. Link is in my BIO.
I have missed the forest so incredibly much and the feeling of sitting here watching the circle of life with a cup of coffee and the camera by my side is hard to describe. I am sharing this day of bird photography in my new YouTube video - Link is in BIO.
The vast desolate landscape of Ellesmere Island is simply breathtaking. Looking at the sunset knowing it will be one of the last one before the midnight sun once again forces winter to leave this spectacular island is an unforgettable experience. I'm now on my way home after spending almost 2 months on Ellesmere Island together with my expedition buddy Anders Bilgram. I'm looking so much forward to sharing this experience with you in pictures and on my youtube channel. The video about the equipment is now online. Link is in my BIO. See you out there..
Ready for my 2 month photography expedition to the Ellesmere Island in the northern part of Canada. Together with my good friend and expedition body Anders Bilgram from #nordiskbrænderi I am going to travel through this amazing high Arctic nature on skies with pulks until the end of May. I'll be out of reception until then so this might be the last post for a while.. I'm looking forward to sharing a series of movies from this expedition on my youtube channel so be sure to subscribe and to hit the little bell. Link is in my biography. Have an awesome spring - see you out there... #grisefiord #nunavut #goingoffgrid #intothewild
4 DAYS SOLO WINTER CAMPING AND WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY 🎥 LINK to the video is in my BIO 🎥 I am off grid in Norway on a 4 day solo adventure to test my expedition equipment for my upcoming 2 month expedition to Ellesmere Island and to do wildlife photography. This time I decide to hike further into the mountains to see if I can find musk oxen in the Snøhetta area. When reaching the foot of the mountain I am surprised by a sudden snow storm and I am forced to pitch my tent in very high winds. I am leaving for this expedition on Sunday and I am looking forward to an amazing adventure together with my expedition buddy Anders Bilgram from @nordiskbraenderi. I hope you will like the video 😃
Stags testing their strength while the falling snowflakes slowly covers the Scottish Highlands. Thanks for a great trip @jocumming.
